The grill plate does amazing medium steaks. I have overworked my flat plate, it's a pity you don't have replacement flat plates.

First time of using so I cooked chicken thighs. This is one of the easiest appliances I have ever used in terms of the controls being easy to understand: pre-heat (using the guidelines to indicate temperature), put food on the griddle, set a separate timer, turn frequently. So easy. I'm trying hard to think of any cons and the only thing I can come up with is that perhaps an in-built timer would be useful – but I'm nit-picking really. There was no splatter, thanks to the splatter lid, and the removable parts are dishwasher safe. What's not to like?

Does it smoke a lot?

Like all frying and grilling there can be some smoke, especially with fatty food on high heat. Fat drains into the tray and the mesh lid reduces splatter. Turn on the extractor fan.

Does it have a timer?

No, you set the temperature with the dial and keep track of the time yourself. The quick-start guide has cooking charts.

How big is the grill?

The grill is about 37 × 28 cm and 11 cm tall with the lid closed. The plates hold six chicken breasts or six pancakes.

How do I clean it?

Let the grill cool, lift off the plates and mesh lid and empty the drip tray. The plates are non-stick and the mesh lid is dishwasher safe.

Description

Grill marks on the chicken on a Tuesday in November, without going out to the barbecue. Ninja Sizzle is a worktop grill with two interchangeable plates: a grill plate and a smooth flat plate.

The grill plate reaches 260 °C and, according to Ninja, heats evenly from edge to edge, so you can use the whole surface – for burgers, steak, chicken breasts, halloumi, salmon and grilled vegetables. You set the temperature with a dial.

Switch to the flat plate for pancakes, eggs and bacon, quesadillas, fajita vegetables or teppanyaki at the table. The plates are non-stick, so you can cook with little or no oil.

The mesh lid reduces splatter and can be lowered to melt cheese, or removed entirely. Fat drains into a drip tray, the lid is dishwasher safe and the 1.5 m cord wraps into the base.
